The main aspects are highlighted below:<\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Accession to the PCT<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Law No. 20.299 formalized Uruguay&#8217;s accession to the PCT, with reservation to Chapter II. Under this framework, the DNPI will act as:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Receiving Office (RO).<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Designated Office (DO) for international applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Submission of Applications<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>Eligibility<\/b>: Any national or resident person in Uruguay can file PCT applications.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>Language<\/b>: The only language accepted by the DNPI is Spanish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Required Documents<\/b><\/p>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Request (Form PCT\/RO\/101).<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Description of the invention.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">PCT-compliant claims.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Drawings (if applicable).<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">Summary according to PCT rules.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Timelines and Priorities<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Priority can be invoked over applications previously filed in Paris Convention countries.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\">The time limit for invoking this priority is <b>12 months from the date of original filing<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Applicable Fees<\/b><\/p>\n<ol class=\"ol1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>Transmission Rate<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>International Tax<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><b>Search Rate<\/b>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\">Applicants who are nationals or domiciled in Uruguay are entitled to a <b>90% reduction in the International Fee<\/b>.
